Reality Workshop, the developers of Embo take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how Reality Workshop collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use the app. We are committed to safeguarding your personal data and ensuring transparency about our practices.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to facilitate the experience, including:
Platform (Meta) User ID
Services (Unity) Player ID
Platform User Information like username and avatar
Device Data like device type and ID, HMD and controller tracking information and, with your permsission, voice.
Technical data like your IP for connection.
2. How We Use Your Information

Your data helps us run the app smoothly and provide you with a safe, enjoyable environment:
Enable multiplayer by connecting you to other players.
Enabling use of Large Language Models.
Facilitating voice communication.
Ensuring app correctness and fixing issues.
We do NOT use your data for advertising purposes, nor do we sell or rent your data to third parties.
3. How We Share Your Information

Your privacy is important. We only share your data in the following limited ways:
We use trusted networking platforms (such as Unity Gaming Services) to power online multiplayer features.
We use trusted AI platforms (such as OpenAI) to power AI speech to speech communication.
These providers only receive the minimum necessary data to connect players, and provide services.
Platform User Information like username and avatar are not transmitted.
We may disclose your information to comply with legal obligations, court orders, or government requests.
4. Data Retention

We retain your platform (Meta) user data and device/services data only as long as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations.
Reality Workshop do not store any user data beyond the experience.
Third Party Service Provider specifics:

OpenAI
OpenAI realtime APIs are used to access their Large Language Models.
Voice data and transcribed voice data are transmitted to their servers.
They store this data in an encrypted state for up to 30 days.
This is for operational purposes e.g. to enable abuse detection and support.
After which it is “removed” automatically unless legal obligation requires retention.
They do not use either the input or output text or speech to feed back into the system for training or any other purpose.
To do so requires a deliberate opt-in which is not given.

Unity Game Services
Relay, Analytics, Vivox are services used by Embo to provide a reliable connected experience.
Data stored by Unity Gaming Services for up to 30 days include PlayerID, DeviceID and truncated IP Address.
Voice data is simply rerouted and not stored
Analytics data which include device id and unity player id is stored indefinately in an encrypted state unless deletion is requested.

5. Data Deletion Request
You can ask us to delete your personal data where applicable at any time.
Email us at support@realityworkshop.com and we will be happy to comply.
Please provide your Unity Player ID when appropriate which can be found in the settings panel of the Embo main menu.
6. Children’s Privacy
Embo is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such data, we will delete it immediately.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We encourage you to review this policy regularly.
